A Visit from Genna and Jeff

Now that Genna is done with Bar Prep and taking the Bar, she has a little time on her hands.  Jeff wasn’t working on Friday, our P day, so they came to visit!  We really looked forward to it.

First off, Genna made some sourdough starter and shared with me!  So I will be trying my hand at sourdough recipes in the future.  Yum.  She made the starter for me and I fixed a skirt for her.  Fair trade.

We went to Sushi Fish Attack for lunch.  We like this place.  Yes, we did go there the first time because the name was cool, but it turned out to be really good.  And it is close to our apartment.  Win-win.  Genna and Jeff seemed to enjoy it, too.

After that we went and walked out on Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach.

This was the second lobster he caught that day.  He had to throw them back.  It isn't the season and you can't keep line-caught lobsters.  Cool to see, though.

Cool kite!
This week was transfers.  There were a LOT of transfers of Battalion Sisters.  The new Mission President got a baptism by fire.  We got five Sisters back from full pross (full proselyting) and seven more went out full pross.  We are happy to have those 5 back, but will miss the 7 for the next 3 months.  We also got two new Mandarin speaking Battalion Sisters from the MTC.  Sister Xia is from Hawaii (China before that) and Sister Chung is from Taiwan.  All of this causes a domino effect with almost everyone changing companions.  Exciting times!  And maybe a little stressful.

Some friends from Roseville visited the Battalion this week.  We are so glad we were on shift.  It is always good to catch up.

We had 4 large YMCA tours this week.  One of the counselors told Craig that out of all of the tours they go on over the summer, the Mormon Battalion tour is the only tour they don’t complain about.  Coming from 10 to 12 year-olds, high praise indeed!
Sister Anderson went to high school in Lehi, UT, but considers North Carolina home.  She attends Southern Utah State as an art major and she particularly likes painting portraits.  Gustav Klimt is her favorite artist.  She just returned from full pross and loved that.  We hope to buy her first piece of artwork!
