Sisters and Sunsets

The last couple of weekends have been pretty busy around the Battalion.  Not the middle of the week, though.  This weekend there are about a million cub scouts in town.  Many came through the Battalion.

There is a very cool patch that anyone can earn, not just scouts.  I just need to write my essay and send in my money and I’ll have everything done.

It turns out I have qualified for both Southern California and Northern California options.  Too bad they are the same patch.  I will write my essay and put my patch in my mission smash book.

This weekend the San Diego Mid-Single adults hosted the Glendale Mid-Singles.  They  made a reservation for “100-ish”.  We can only fit about 20 adults in a tour.  That many did not come, but a lot did.  They had a picnic lunch and then some trickled in for tours.  That worked out fine.

The Mission President’s 9 year old daughter has gotten her costume and is now practicing the tour.  It will be fun when she starts doing some tours with the Sisters.

Since it is kind of slow and we are now eight months in to our mission, this week I am going to post some pictures we have taken of some of our favorite things: Sisters and sunsets.

This week was the one year mark since some of our Sisters entered the MTC.  Three of them, plus their companions, invited us to a celebratory lunch with them. Actually, there were 4 companionships since the Sisters share cars.  If you were sharing a car with someone who was going to lunch, wouldn’t you want to go along?

It was a laugh riot.
Here are some other pictures of Sisters we have collected over the last few weeks.

A couple of times a week we like to walk along the beach.  I cannot stop taking pictures of the sunsets!  And now that the sun sets a lot earlier, I am not sure we’ll get as many.  But here are some sunset pictures.

That is Craig in the picture.

And some beach pictures thrown in for good measure.

Yes, scuba divers.

This week you get to meet hilarious Sister Brown from Arizona.   She was called Spanish speaking and is getting pretty good at it.  Her favorite thing in the world is her big family.  She has 18 nieces and nephews at the moment, but by the time she gets home that number will be 20.

She also loves her friends, watching movies, running and snowboarding.  She has always loved talking to people. She finds it is a little harder in Spanish.

  1. I remember taking my cub scouts to the Battalion to earn that same patch. As a matter of fact, it could have been in the Phillips Ranch Ward!! Love the sunsets and beach pictures. I've always loved going to the beach. It's relaxing. Can you believe we only have a few months left???
